Most villages and towns in the Dordogne have some festival at least once per year, usually in honour of its patron saint.  They are usually worth the trip -- you may want to verify the actual dates of these events closer to the time of your trip.

  Early in the Month Flower and strawberry festival in Marmonde.
  Last Week Polo, dressage, jumping, racing, etc in the Mai du Cheval in Bordeaux (even numbered years only).

  Pentecost Monday La Ringueta, traditional games and sports in Sarlat (even numbered years only)
  23 St John's day bonfires, homage to the bull and a week of events in Bazas
July  
  All Month International Folklore Festival in Montignac
  1st Sunday Huge antiques fair in Belvès
  14 Regattas on the Dordogne in Bergerac
  3rd Weekend Fête de la Madeleine - lively festival, wine, and fun fair in Duras - it lasts for four days culimating on the Monday evening with fireworks and illumination of the château.
  3rd Saturday Entre-Deux-Mers wine festival in Sauveterre-de-Guyenne
  End July - Early August Theatre Festival in Sarlat

  15 Huge flea market in Duras; laser light-up of Rocamadour

  All month SIGMA - theatre, dance, and music in Bordeaux; cinema festival in Sarlat
